Why Do We Do Bible Studies?
Bible Studies are a deeply important part of United Youth because we want to see young people grow to know Jesus truly, love Jesus deeply, and follow Jesus faithfully.
As Christians, we are not called to stay the same. God’s desire is that we would grow in maturity, in truth, and in Christlikeness. That kind of growth does not happen by accident. It happens as we sit under God’s Word, allow it to shape our hearts, renew our minds, and teach us how to live for Jesus in the everyday parts of life.
That is why Bible Studies matter so much. In small groups, we open the Bible together, ask honest questions, wrestle with its truth, and help one another see how God’s Word speaks into real life. Our prayer is not just that young people would know more about the Bible, but that they would be transformed by it.
As Paul writes, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2). And again, “Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly” (Colossians 3:16). That is what we long for in Bible Studies, that the Word of Christ would dwell richly in our young people and shape them into mature disciples.
What Are Bible Studies?
There are three key parts to our Bible Studies:
The Bible is not a shallow book. It is rich, deep, beautiful, and sometimes challenging. At United Youth, we believe the Bible is the very Word of God, and so we want to teach our young people to read it carefully, understand it rightly, and delight in it deeply.
Bible Studies help young people move beyond surface-level Christianity. They learn to ask good questions, understand the meaning of a passage, see how it fits into God’s big plan of salvation, and discover what it teaches about God, ourselves, and the world. We want young people to grow in confidence that the Bible is true, trustworthy, and good.
Bible Studies are not only about learning truth, but also about living that truth together. These smaller groups create a safe and welcoming space where young people can be known, cared for, encouraged, and challenged.
As friendships grow, so does trust. Young people learn that the Christian life is not meant to be lived alone. We need brothers and sisters in Christ who will listen, pray, encourage, and walk with us. In this way, Bible Studies become a place where truth is spoken in love and where genuine Christian community can grow.
At United Youth, we do not want young people to simply consume truth, we want them to be shaped by it and then become people who help others follow Jesus too.
As they grow in faith, character, and understanding, they are better equipped to encourage friends, welcome newcomers, speak about Jesus, and bring others along with them. This is part of Christian maturity: not just growing personally, but becoming the kind of disciple who helps make other disciples.
Our desire is to see young people become grounded in the truth, full of love for Christ, and ready to strengthen others for His glory.
